What is PayPal?

PayPal is one of the most useful sites on the Web today. Basically, it's a secure e-commerce site that allows buyers and sellers to conduct business on the Web, safely, securely, and with a minimum of fuss. I've used PayPal for a long time and have never had any problems.

How Does PayPal Work?

To use PayPal, all you need is a valid email address. More from the official PayPal FAQ page:

"PayPal can be used to send and receive payments through the internet.Once you sign up for a PayPal account, you can send and receive money online.When you send money, you can choose to fund your payments from your PayPal account balance, a credit card, or your bank account. Recipients are then notified via an email from PayPal that they have received a payment from you."

28 Ways to Make Money with Your Website

There are several lists with “ways to make money with a website” on the Internet, but none of them seem to be complete. That is why I decided to create this one. If you know a method that is not listed below, just let us know and we’ll update it.

Notice that ways to make money with a website are different from ways to make more money from it. Methods to increase your traffic or click-through rate will help you make more money, but they do not represent a method of making money per se.

For example, one could suggest that blending AdSense ads with the content is a way to make money from a website. In reality it’s not; it’s just a way to make more money by improving your ad click-through rate. The real monetization method behind it is a PPC ad network.

The list is divided into direct and indirect methods, and examples and links are provided for each point. Enjoy!

Direct Methods

1. PPC Advertising Networks

Google AdSense is the most popular option under this category, but there are also others. Basically you need to sign up with the network and paste some code snippets on your website. The network will then serve contextual ads (either text or images) relevant to your website, and you will earn a certain amount of money for every click.

The profitability of PPC advertising depends on the general traffic levels of the website and, most importantly, on the click-through rate (CTR) and cost per click (CPC). The CTR depends on the design of the website. Ads placed abode the fold or blended with content, for instance, tend to get higher CTRs. The CPC, on the other hand, depends on the nice of the website. Mortgages, financial products and college education are examples of profitable niches (clicks worth a couple of dollars are not rare), while tech-related topics tend to receive a smaller CPC (sometimes as low as a couple of cents per click).

The source of the traffic can also affect the overall CTR rate. Organic traffic (the one that comes from search engines) tends to perform well because these visitors were already looking for something, and they tend to click on ads more often. Social media traffic, on the other hand, presents terribly low CTRs because these visitors are tech-savvy and they just ignore ads.

6 tipes on how to make money with affiliate ads program

Affiliate programs can be a great way to supplement your income but to the most out of them you must also be willing to spend time and effort into building an affiliate network.

Affiliate programs are not likely to make you rich overnight but joining the right programs can help you earn several hundred dollars per month on a moderately sized website in a relatively short time. The larger your website is, generally the greater your traffic draw from content will be. The higher your traffic rate is, the more likely you are to be successful with affiliate ads.

Much of your success depends on two things: the quality of your website content, and how selective you are in choosing affiliate program ads to compliment your site.

Choose Affiliate Ads That Are Consistent With Your Website's Purpose: Keep your affiliate ads connected to your website's purpose and content as much as possible. You can be broad and creative, but remember to consider the interests and sensibilities of your website visitors. Affiliate ads should compliment your site - not compete with it.
For example, if you run a social network for stay-at-home moms, think about what most interests your audience. You might choose programs that offer products and services for children, but you might also consider selling books, links to online degrees, and even vacation planning affiliate programs.

Keep it Clean and "G" Rated: You will not make money by adding porn and other adult content to a general interest website. Keep it off your site if you want to have any credibility and are trying to attract a loyal customer base rather than those just looking for instant gratification.
A G-Rated site stands a much better chance of consistently appearing in the most possible search engine returns. Unless you are actually running an adult-themed business, keep adult ads completely off your site. Even if your site content is as G-Rated as Mary Poppins if you allow adult content ads your site will still be listed as adult-oriented by search engines.

Do Not Over Do It: Adding too many ads to a page and using annoying pop-ups and flash ads will usually accomplish only one thing: it will distract and annoy your readers who will just go somewhere else to find information without intrusive ads.

Affiliate programs are also sometimes referred to as associate programs. When you enter into an affiliation you are essentially partnering with another company to allow that company (or affiliate) to advertise on your website.

Generally, you get to decide what ads you want to use and where you want them on your site. The right affiliate partnerships create a win-win situation for you and the affiliate company but using the wrong ads can hurt your website.

Here are five important things you should know about affiliate program payments:

Commission Based Income: Affiliate programs pay you a commission for sales that result through linked ads on your website to the affiliate, or in some cases, you may be paid each time someone clicks on the affiliate ad. Either way, you must earn the income by performing for the affiliate company in a way that they also benefit.
Affiliate Income is Taxable Income: To get paid, you must have a federal tax ID number or social security number. Affiliate programs are required by law to report your ad income to the IRS - and they do.
Payments May Be Sporadic: Most affiliate programs only pay you when you have earned a minimum amount, or on a periodic basis (usually quarterly), or whichever comes first. With most affiliate programs, if you opt for direct deposit instead of a paper check you will be paid faster.
Do Not Get Taken: Not all affiliate companies are legitimate. Be sure to check out each company thoroughly or you could end up making money for someone else and getting nothing in return.
Be Proactive If You Do Not Get Paid: If you are due a payment but did not receive compensation, immediately contact the affiliate company.

You've probably heard before a lot of hype about how much money you can make with affiliate programs. Maybe you've even set up a site yourself, only to find that after buying the domain, a few bucks a month in hosting, software or a web designer to design your site, etc., that the piddly affiliate fees hardly even covered your cost. Well, here's the hype-free way to really make money with an Amazon.com affiliate site. And it'll only take a day to make the site. The secret? Low cost, low effort.

If you don't already know it, learn some basic HTML. You have to do this to keep your costs down and still get what you want. Even if the site is basically laid out for you, you're going to need to know how to insert images, create hyperlinks, and do some basic text formatting. Decide on your topic. You're going to be doing product reviews and recommendations, so pick a topic that you enjoy and know something about. If you can't stay passionate about the topic, that will show, and it also won't hold your interest. Choose a narrow enough niche to be distinctive, e.g., bands from your city, left-handed guitarists, music for a certain kind of dancing, authors of a certain religion, books about arts & crafts, etc.

Making money online used to pretty much require you to have your own Web site, products to sell and some marketing savvy. But a new generation of dot-coms have arisen that will pay you for what you know and who you know without you having to be a web designer or a marketing genius.

But it's hard to tell hype from the real deal. I did a search on "make money online" and "making money online", and much of the information out there is just promoting various infoproducts, mostly about Internet marketing. I see why people sometimes ask, "Is anyone making money online besides Internet marketing experts?"
